Hero

Another guest appearance from Naomi.  She wrote this as a gift for Mother's Day last year.  I have hesitated about posting it, as I pray that I can actually live up to the way she sees me.  To be honest, I fear that anyone would think higher of me that is true.  But each of us should be so blessed to have another human who would not only see us this way, but write it down, so eloquently.  Please share, or just enjoy.  Naomi, sweet girl, you are a blessing and you are BLESSED.

The Woman With Curly Hair

If you had seen her on the street you would have noticed her hair,
Long, brown, light highlights, and a curly flair.
If that was all you noticed you would have missed someone unique,
With few things about her that need critique.

You would have missed her lion-hearted courage,
Walking on to a dark road despite being terrified of what she might find.

You would have missed her unflinching strength,
Learning with pain, every single day, to walk again.

You would have missed her gallant bravery,
Tightening a loved ones mechanism each night, even though it was breaking her heart.

You would have missed her unexplainable beauty,
Shining in the midst of her world being completely shattered.

You would have missed her adept intelligence,
Understanding complex problems that no one else could.

You would have missed her never-ending tenacity,
Fighting for her family no matter the cost.

You would have missed her persistent determination,
Stopping at nothing until she has a reason for the pain.

You would have missed her loving generosity,
Searching, continuously, for ways to help those in need.

You would have missed her genuine authenticity,
Sharing with others what she is going through, the clean and the messy.

You would have missed her sense of humor,
Finding a way to laugh in every situation.

You would have missed her changing,
Being forever formed into the image of Him.

You would have missed a dear friend,
Seeing past your faults to who you really are.

You would have missed an extraordinary inspiration,
Giving her children someone exceptional to aspire to be like.

You would have missed a bold leader,
Pointing people to the One who can help them.

You would have missed a beautiful miracle,
Living only because God has given her back her life.

You would have missed a Hero,
Showing me it is possible to beat all the odds and overcome.

You would have missed my Mom.

Perhaps, next time when think you glimpse her on the street,
Your heart with excitement would skip a beat,
With the knowledge that she could be,
One the greatest people you could ever meet.
